Applicants will automatically be considered for a reduced entry requirement of the 2x A-Level grades (or equivalent) based upon contextual data as disclosed through their UCAS application. This includes applicants who:

• Live in a POLAR4, Quintile 1 postcode
• Live in an Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD 1), quintile 1 postcode within the United Kingdom
• Have received free school meals at any point during your secondary school education
• Have experience of living within care (e.g. local authority care, kinship care)
• Are estranged from your parents (i.e. you are not in contact with and supported by your parents).

The contextual offer will automatically appear on your UCAS Track and you will receive confirmation from our Admissions Team directly. Reduced offers will be applied on a case by case dependent on your chosen course of study and any course requirements. In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ provides an opportunity for applicants to receive reduced entry requirement of 1x A-Level grade (or equivalent) where circumstances do not automatically receive a contextual offer. In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ invites applicants to apply directly for the scheme which is considered in parallel to their UCAS application.

A contextual offer of 1x A-level or equivalent (please see table of equivalencies below) will be applied to the entry requirement for undergraduate courses. The contextual offer will be processed by our Team and will appear on your UCAS Track at a later date. Once this has been applied, you will receive confirmation from our Admissions Team directly. 

Reduced offers will be applied on a case by case dependent on your chosen course of study and any course requirements. Please note that we may be unable to offer a reduction in entry requirements in some case for BTEC students, those with unconditional offers or where subjects are required for courses.

You are eligible to receive a contextual offer through In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ if you attend a state school and meet one of the following:

• You are eligible for a 16-19 bursary.
• You are a refugee with indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
• You are from a Gypsy, Roma, Irish Traveller, Showperson or Boater community.
• You are a young carer or look after someone in your family (e.g. you care for a relative with a disability, illness, mental health condition or addiction).
• You have disclosed a disability or long-term health condition
• You have a parent/carer who has served in the UK Armed Forces or as a Reservist
• You are a mature or adult learner who will be aged 21 years or over when commencing your studies.
• You live in an IMD Q2 Postcode*
• You live in a POLAR4 Q2 Postcode**

Applicants who have previously completed a activity are eligible for In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.

*Indices of Multiple Deprivation are commonly used datasets within the UK to classify the relative deprivation within smaller areas. We will check your postcode against these datasets to determine your eligibility. However, if you wish to check your own postcode prior to applying for In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, you can use our own .

*POLAR4 classifies the progression rate of young people in higher education within local areas across the UK. We will check your postcode using the Office for Students postcode data to determine your eligibility. However, if you wish to check your own postcode prior to applying for In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, you can use our own .

Applicants eligible for an automatically applied contextual offer will have the reduced entry requirement factored into their initial offer from the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½'s Admissions Team. This will also appear on your UCAS Track.

Applicants eligible for a contextual offer through In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ will receive an updated offer once processed by both the Widening Participation and Admissions Teams respectively. Therefore, please expect a delay between receiving your initial offer and the contextual offer. Once the reduced entry requirement has been applied, you will be contacted by our Admissions Team and the new offer will appear on your UCAS Track.

In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ contextual offers for 2027/28 entry will be processed and updated before July 2027. We are unable to award In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ contextual offers after this date.

Your extenuating circumstances will automatically be considered if you meet our eligibility criteria. However, If you do not meet one of the outlined eligibility criteria but have faced considerable disruption to education, please contact in2@surrey.ac.uk to discuss your circumstances.

In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ does not have a direct scholarship attached. However, if you are eligible for a contextual offer, you may be eligible for one of the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½'s advertised bursaries and scholarships. Applications for In2ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ will reopen in September 2026 and close Sunday 2 June 2027 ahead of 2027/28 entry. You can apply at anytime before the deadline but we strongly encourage that you complete your application once you have submitted your UCAS application.
